Rusty Metal

Working, 24/7

My computer is never turned off, and always runs at 100% in the background for the benefit of science. The image was handheld at 1/10th, should have used a short tripod.

Took some Work to build this, and it is made of Metal!

Traveled the old highway from Mesquite to Beaver Dam and beyond yesterday. This is one narrow bridge! Anna Rae recalls "I was terrified I would meet a truck on this bridge!"

Shoes....Boots....Always a Bit Behind.....

I took this pic sometime last spring and Barb and Shawn commented and gave me some tips.  Well, I finally dragged them out again at one point and though they were a bit more worn, figured I would try and post them for the shoes category and see if these were better or not.  I think the somments had been about the lighting and trying to capture more of the grain of the wood.  I wish I had more time to do some 'shoes' pic's because I think shoes have a definite personality and can evoke some great emotions in us (maybe just 'cause I am a girl and I LOVE shoes ;)

Random Presents

The colors seemed particularly rich streaming through our side window. I thought the light gave the scene an ethereal look. This was snapped w/o flash as a filler.

Christmas Decoration - Portland, OR

I took this at Thanksgiving just as Christmas decorations were starting to go up around Portland. It was the night of the Christmas Tree Bomber, if you watched the news. There weren't many individuals along the Willamette River front at the time. I jammed my camera between some metal handrails to stabilize it, turned the flash off, and took about four shots. This was the best IMO.

Ok. Sounds like most want to keep the blog going so I've posted new assignments. If you have suggestions for the blog, (longer time to fulfill assignments? more interesting topic? giving others opportunity to make assignments?) please let me know. Happy shooting :)

Macro/stacking

Ah Ha! We can post anything we wish! Enjoying playing around a bit today with stacking software. These circuit cards represent the evolution of circuit cards, oldest on top, a vacuum tube "pluggable unit" circa 1950's, then the first use of transistors (the six black/silver "cans") in a computer, late 1950's, then a circuit card from probably the 70's. Each image is a composite of 30 photos or so combined into single images. High res, click to fully appreciate.

Randal, a test photo, as you mentioned photos will not post. Hope you are not maxed out on blog space?

Yes, I hate to admit it but I have been considering ending our photography blog. There are so few participating that I have become discouraged. I'm not sure I even posted during December. I understand we all have different schedules and some times are easier to post than others. I guess if I get a lot of feedback asking for the blog to continue, I will do it. Otherwise.....not so sure.
