Court Rock
Just a few random shots taken as I was looking for "framing" opportunities. Pics taken with my Nikon point-and-shoot. The last two were at maximum optical and digital zoom. I was wishing for my DSLR when I saw the owls.
I think all of these might have benefitted from about a -1/2 step exposure compensation to trim the extremely bright highlights a bit. Point and shoot cameras sometimes have some trouble in very bright, direct desert sunlight.
I agree Phil. I should override the auto mode and drop the exposure by about 2. (The salesman suggested 1.5 when I bought the thing. Should've listened.) These pics were taken about 8:30 AM. The colors disappear completely by noon. They get bleached out.
Cool owls (great horned); I think the shot from inside Court Rock, with the holes framing the exterior view, capture the assignment best!

ReplyDeleteThat is a cool owl!
The third shot is my favorite of all these.
