Now, as to these HDR images, I personally find the first one the best from a dynamic range standpoint. The second looks a bit artificial, which is the traditional risk with HDR. But keep playing with it!
I like the shadows - gives more depth to the photos! OK, I am a bit dull, what does "HDR" stand for? Obviously I don't have that feature on my Kodak Easy-Share ;-(
You can sure see how HDR brings out the shadows. Danged, the more I get into photography, I am only overwhelmed about how much there is to learn.
