I never knew that tree was planted that late; I thought it was one of the original black locusts that was planted about 1896. Old photo in the Panaca history book shows young locust trees on each side of the "Panaca town hall," which became part of the church in the 1940's (?) - or maybe 1960's, after the current town hall/fire station/post office was built. But what do I know?? Cool series of shots.
Nice juxtaposition! I cored the RS tree with kids in middle school years back to see if the rings corresponded with the marker. Funny thing, they do!
