Grandpa's Hands

So when the subject of someone using both hands was listed, I instantly thought of my Grandpa. He has been working with hands his entire life. Today I was fortunate enough to spend some time in his shop taking pics of him working. It amazes me how at 90, his motor just keeps cruising. It was a pleasure to spend time with him, and capture him at work. I hope these pics will do justice to him.

  1. Adam, these photos are amazing! I love the color, AND the B&W! I aspire to have your photographic talent. If only I could be so fortunate to be as active as your grandfather at his age... Does he tinker in the shop often?

  2. These are all great, but my personal favorite is of just his old gnarled hands. So much character in that shot!

  4. Fantastic! Especially that last one where you can see every wrinkle, crease, even the thinness of his skin.

  5. I agree with Steff, the more I browse the photos, am drawn to the one of the old hands which just reek of a lifetime of use. Just can't get past this shot without a few moments of reflection and a reality check.

  6. Thanks everyone, the more I get into photography the more I realize how many of the opportunities I have let slip by. My grandpa has spent his entire life working in shop of one or another, but I have never seen a picture of him in this environment. Hopefully I can be more aware of these opportunities and create something that captures these wonderful moments.
