Metal/Wood and Metal

  1. Very nice contrast between the wood and steel.

  2. Love the wooden spoke wheel! Being the tech guy, I need to know, is that a drum brake and differential behind the wheel? So this is on what once was a motorized vehicle? I wasn't even aware wooden wheels were used in this application. Interesting. The wooden wheelwright profession must have survived longer than I suspected.

  3. The shadow of the chain link fence on the wheel gave this photo interesting depth.

  4. @ Jim. General Motors made wood-spoked wheels clear into the late 20s. The top pic is from a 27 Chevy (or as close as I can estimate the year).

  5. My fave is the wooden spoke wheel, with the rusty metal rim - that has so much texture! The metal (boiler??) is interesting, but not enough contrast in the greys of most of the photo - the shadows of the ..bolts, rivets?... created more contrast - maybe a simple closeup of those would have been a more effective shot?
